The school has made a major change in its organizational structure in becoming a not-for-profit entity. Consequently, the Executive management of the school now consists of a board which oversees major policy and curricular decisions for the school. In the first few months of operation, the board has begun to deliberate on new directions for the school to take during its next phase of development.
The board has determined to systematically enhance NCCI's curriculum with a more complete integration of artistic and community service learning activities throughout all of the grades. The first phase of this transition will take place after the March break of 2010 when a curricular initiative will see an increased number of artistic, academic, community service and athletic activities available to students in mixed-grade groups. The board has indicated that there will be an arts-based summer program this summer: Eagle Arts (www.eaglearts.ca). Already a highly regarded summer arts program in B.C., this exciting and energetic summer day camp will be available at NCCI this coming summer. See eaglearts.ca for more details. By September, the goal is for the school to have achieved a deeper curricular integration of arts at all levels, thus enhancing the overall level of learning and excitement of the students while promoting the full expression of all of their latent talents.
Now, no longer operated as a subsidiary of a corporation, NCCI is able to undertake fundraising activities to support its own programs. This will be carried out by a group known as the NCCI Foundation. One of their first initiatives has been the plan for the upgrading of NCCI's information technology infrastructure in March, 2010.
